Michael Riesener was born in 1986 in Aachen. From 2006 until 2011 he studied mechanical engineering and business administration with major subject in production technology at RWTH Aachen university. Mr. Riesener gathered practical experience during his internships in the automotive industry and consulting as well as during his time as a student assistant at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL), an institute of RWTH Aachen University. Following his master degree, Mr. Riesener began his work as a research associate in the department of innovation management at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering of RWTH Aachen University in the end of 2011. Since then, his research and consulting activities are focused on projects regarding the efficiency and effectiveness enhancement of product development. Furthermore, he has been focusing on projects with respect to the development of modular product platforms and variant management. He has been leader of the workgroup for complexity management from 2013 until 2015. At the end of 2015 he gained one’s doctorate at the chair for production engineering of Prof. Günther Schuh. At the beginning of 2016 he took over the division management of the department of Innovation management at the WZL.
The activity profile of Mr. Riesener includes both consulting as well as research projects in the fields of innovation and complexity management. A special focus is on topics of modular product platform design, the opportunities and effects of impacts of “Industrie 4.0” in R&D, the operative variant management, value analyses, value stream analysis as well as R&D-process optimizations.
